Additionally, it is used for diagnosing and guiding treatment decisions for renal and urinary tract disorders.

• Renal Health Assessment: Assessing the structure and function of the kidneys for abnormalities such as kidney stones, cysts, or tumors.
• Urinary Tract Evaluation: Evaluating the ureters and bladder for conditions such as obstruction, inflammation, or tumors.

To ensure a successful Sonography KUB, we recommend the following preparations:

• Comfortable Attire: Wear loose and comfortable clothing. Avoid wearing any jewelry or accessories that may interfere with the ultrasound examination.

• Hydration: Drink plenty of water in the hours leading up to your appointment to ensure proper hydration.

• Full Bladder: A full bladder is required for the KUB test to evaluate the urinary bladder thoroughly, unless it is not possible due to some medical conditions. The bladder needs to be optimally distended for accurate imaging. If your bladder is over-distended and causing discomfort, you may be asked to empty a small portion of urine. Conversely, if your bladder is suboptimally distended, you may be asked to wait until it becomes full before proceeding with the test.

Please note fasting is not necessary for the KUB test.

You will lie down on an examination table, and a water-based gel will be applied to your abdominal area. Radiologist will then move a handheld device called a transducer over the skin to capture images of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder.

• Kidney Stones: Solid mineral deposits that form in the kidneys and can cause pain and urinary symptoms.
• Renal Cysts: Fluid-filled sacs within the kidneys, which may be benign or require further evaluation.
